titania_le_fey@yahoo.comSwan is Cleon's second in command, making him the acting War Chief during the long walk home. Hard and focused, Swan is a man of few words who chooses to express himself through fist clenching moments of awkward silence. When he does speak, it's immediately understood why he is Cleon's worthy successor as leader of the Warriors. He is well built and relies on an equal balance of raw strength, level headedness and technique. When the Punks ambush the Warriors in Union Square, Swan makes sure to throw the last guy through the bathroom stall door, leaving the Punk head first in the toilet.
A mix between kung-fu and refined street brawling, Swan commands instant respect; you'd never find him lipping off or getting too hot-headed when the heat is on. Using his instinct, he leads the Warriors back to Coney Island, constantly negotiating the finer details of a well thought through plan. Wanted by the Rogues and hunted by the Riffs, Swan does everything he can to get the Warriors back to Coney without getting wasted.

The Warriors
Cleon: The Warlord, leader of the gang. (Named after the Ancient Greek politician) After Cyrus' assassination, he is beaten (assumedly to death, though the film is not completely clear on this point) by the Gramercy Riffs.
Swan: The Warchief, second-in-command of the gang. An outstanding fighter in his own right, Swan joins the gang after beating out both Cleon and Vermin after a 'King of the Hill' type brawl. Assuming control after the death of Cleon, Swan's leadership is shown to be more logical/practical then his brothers in arms. Successfully leading the group back to Coney, he actually wins a gunfight against Luther using only a knife.
Fox: The [foxlike] Scout. Fox is very familiar with other gangs' tactics, turf, and numbers. He dies when he's thrown in front of a speeding train while struggling with a police officer.
Rembrandt: The Writer, the gang's graffiti artist, he wears the standard gear, but with a messenger bag and an afro. Apparently the youngest member, Rembrandt is far less battle hardened and is frequently looked after by the other members of the gang. (Named after the famous painter)
Ajax: A cocky, loud, womanizing Warrior always up for a fight. He wears fingerless leather gloves and a black tank top under his Warriors vest. His womanizing ways lead to his downfall, as proven when he tries to rape an undercover female officer. (Named after the Mythical Greek Warrior)
Snow: He is a Warrior who is quiet and reserved but can still handle himself. He has an afro.
Vermin: A cynical member of the gang. He and Cleon, originally Destroyers, were betrayed by their original Gang Leader and with only the other to rely on, fended off the Satan's Mothers before returning to quit the Destroyers. Surprisingly, though he is the co-founder of the Warriors, he has no desire to be the Warlord, instead deferring to Swan.
Cochise: A high-kicking Warrior (originally from Harlem) who wears Indian-style leather boots and pants. He also sports an afro with a red bandanna tied around his head, and wears American Indian jewelry. (Named after the Apache Chief)
Cowboy: A Warrior who got his name from always wearing a Stetson cowboy hat. He is the optimistic, happy-go-lucky Warrior.
Mercy: Originally a member of the Orphans but finds herself with The Warriors soon after they meet. She doesn't mind though as she wants to see some "real action". Mercy is a prostitute and we find out a lot about her life and aspirations throughout the film. Mercy becomes Swan's girl and then presumably disappears (or Swan tells her to go) to return home and fulfill her dreams. (Swan as I play him has mentioned Mercy is gone but I have yet to find out from him why or when. More when the muse becomes talkative about the subject.)
Warning: Swan is a foul mouthed, vicious often nasty and dangerous man if you have problems with violence and/or swearing this is not the journal for you.
